The once remote, anaecumenic, polar regions are now a growing subject of interest among wider audiences. The historical charm of these “last frontiers” lives on as their delicate and precious environment is better known, more often visited by non specialists, and increasingly threatened by inappropriately conducted human activities. The surprisingly high amount of pollution which can be found in those areas is a striking testimony: it demonstrates the impressive global circulation dynamics and the fact that humankind is directly responsible for some environmental impacts far beyond commonly perceived human reach. Wider and deeper public education about these subjects will be paramount for a more developed and socially shared concience about some environmental problems. NANUQ2020, as the other expeditions previously conducted by the same workgroup and partners, will have public dissemination and education about its scientific results as a main goal. The expedition will include documentation of its activities both towards the general public and towards students.
